Jackelyn Jean Ives of Orlando, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at age 92, with her family by her side. Jackie was born on October 14, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan to Thomas and Nora Licht McLaughlin. Jackie had two older sisters who preceded her in death, Vivian, and Virginia, two surviving younger sisters, Joyce and Karen, and two surviving younger brothers, Edward and Alfred Audet. Jackie grew up and graduated high school in Detroit, Michigan where she met Rolland C Ives through a friend. They fell in love and were married for 65 years prior to Rollie's death in 2018. They had two daughters, Lynne Marie Ives, who preceded them in death, and Robin Cathleen Valentine. In 1977 Jackie, Rollie and Robin moved to Orlando, Florida. Jackie and Rollie also sponsored an exchange student from Sweden between 1979 and 1980. Her name was Pernilla, and she soon became a daughter to them. Jackie was a founding member of All Saints Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the Choir. At age 53, Jackie attended Clown School with three of her friends, Ella, Dee, and Betty. After she graduated as PEEK-A-BOO the clown, she became a teacher of clowning and participated in local parades and clown ministries meeting many life-long friends. She also sold Avon for approximately 60 years. Jackie had her own card ministry, sending thousands of cards each year to family, friends and sometimes people she had never even met in person. Each card was a uniquely personalized creation, sometimes including glitter confetti as an extra surprise! She made phone calls to all her family and friends each year on their birthdays to sing them special birthday songs. She loved being Irish, ANYTHING purple, making ceramics, drawing, painting, telling jokes, having sing-alongs, decorating for, and celebrating all holidays, the American Flag and our great country, and sharing her love for her Heavenly Father, whom she went to meet and be with on Father's Day. Jackie loved spending time with family and friends, and she soon became a friend, an aunt and second mother to everyone she met. Her nickname for herself was "Aunt Blabby" because she loved to talk with people. She inspired people to play games, go camping, listen to music, and put butter on their pizza crust! Jackie is survived by her daughter, Robin Cathleen Valentine, many loving nieces and nephews, and many fictive kin to include Karen Dragotta, Terilynn Hinchman, and Bobbie DePew. There are so many others that are included in this list, but it is impossible to list them all here. However, they know how much she loved them. Jackie will be interred at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida where she will join her loving husband and many other friends! Always remember God loves you, spread love, play music, sing, keep smiling, let your light shine, and toodle-loo, meaning see you later … never goodbye!
