Obituary

Jack (John Charles) King
St. Cloud, FL
October 13, 1953- September 8, 2025

Our brother, Jack King, finally decided to take his well-deserved eternal nap on September 8, 2025. After a long courageous struggle with respiratory challenges, Jack passed peacefully at a nursing care facility in St. Cloud, Florida.
Jack (John Charles) King was born in Boston on October 13, 1953, to James L. And Emily F. King. He was the third of six children-- his siblings are Chris (Christine King) Wojnar, Jim King, Peter King, Kathleen King and Joanne King. Jack was predeceased by his parents and an infant sister, Jeanne Marie King.
Jack took on a key role in the family business that his father founded, King Instrument Corp. Years later, Jack and his wife, Susan, came to Florida and purchased, renovated, and ran the Colonial Motel in St. Cloud for many successful years.
Jack had an entrepreneurial spirit, which seemed to run in the family. He had many stories to share about being a cab driver in Florida! He also sold advertising for the town newspaper, St. Cloud in the News, and started a column for the paper called "Jack's Jokes". He was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Jack was a lover of baseball in his youth and beyond… he was a star Little League player, and later became a Little League coach. While in St. Cloud, Jack organized a semi-pro baseball game fundraiser for the St. Cloud food pantry.
Known for his quick wit, encyclopedic memory of Red Sox players and statistics dating back to his childhood, and his uncanny ability to quote any episode of The Three Stooges (as a proud card-carrying member of the Stooges Society), Jack lived his 71 years with creativity, humor, and just enough mischief to keep life interesting. He was always striving to better himself, including learning new ways to build confidence and connect with people.
He was the kind of man who could fix just about anything…except, of course, his golf swing. Jack had a remarkable gift for storytelling, recalling in vivid detail people and experiences that others had long forgotten. For him, no memory was ever lost.
A passionate rock-and-roll enthusiast, Jack's devotion to music was lifelong, with Jethro Tull holding the top spot in his heart since being a young teenager, to right up until his final days. If you were lucky enough to share a meal with Jack, you already know two things: he never skipped dessert, and he would absolutely steal fries off your plate without hesitation.
Jack leaves behind two brothers and three sisters who loved him dearly and learned much from him, in addition to friends, and countless others who will miss his stand-up comic sense of humor and genuine interest in who you were.

God Speed, Brother Jack - We love you.

Nothing is Easy
Though time gets you worrying
my friend, it's o.k.
Just take your life easy
and stop all that hurrying,
be happy my way.
When tension starts mounting
and you've lost count
of the pennies you've missed,
just try hard and see why they're not worrying me,
they're last on my list.
Nothing's easy.
Nothing is easy, you'll find
that the squeeze won't turn out so bad.
Your fingers may freeze, worse things happen at sea,
there's good times to be had.
Nothing is Easy
