Linda Ann Blakeney Shumard, 72, of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away on July 16, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with glioblastoma. Her passing marked the end of a courageous journey demonstrated through strength, generosity, and unwavering love. Linda faced cancer three times in her life—first breast cancer, then lymph node cancer, and finally brain cancer—with unshakable resilience and grace. Each diagnosis was met not with fear but with determination, hope, and a fierce will to live fully. For 34 years, Linda shared a beautiful marriage with her husband, James Shumard. Their relationship was a true partnership—rooted in loyalty, mutual respect, laughter, and love. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, compassion, and treasured memories. Linda's life was defined by service to others. She devoted countless hours to training service dogs, helping provide greater independence to individuals with disabilities. A proud and active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she honored her ancestry by championing patriotism, historical preservation, and education. Her compassion also extended to Gold Star families, to whom she offered comfort, understanding, and steadfast support. Her commitment to helping others was boundless. She volunteered for telethons supporting critical causes, donated generously to those in need, and even participated in human trials to advance research in vaccines and treatments for dementia and Alzheimer's. Linda's empathy was not just a trait—it was a calling. Linda embraced her role as a stepmother with wholehearted love. She is survived by her two stepdaughters, Alicia Renee Shumard of Mount Dora, Florida, and Teresa Suzan Marks of Nowra, New South Wales, Australia. Her joy was multiplied by her beloved step-grandchildren, Alton Marks and Ozma Marks, whose lives she touched deeply and joyfully. In addition to her husband and stepfamily, Linda is survived by her brothers, John Blakeney (Patty) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Kevin Blakeney (Dorene) of Saint Cloud, Florida; her sisters, Patti Whipple (Bill) of Kissimmee, Florida, and Ann Ring (Marc) of Tampa, Florida; as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who will continue to carry forward her legacy of kindness, humor, and perseverance. Linda Ann Blakeney Shumard lived a life of meaning and service. Her strength in adversity, her dedication to others, and her boundless heart leave a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege to know her. There will be a memorial for Linda  at Kuppa Thyme Tea Room Saturday August 9th 3-6 pm. St. Cloud, Florida. People can come  anytime and stay as long as they would like. We'll have iced tea and finger foods available.
