Margaret Alice Kirkland, passed peacefully in her sleep at home, surrounded by her family on
Wednesday, May 28, 2025. She was born September 28, 1947, in Martin, Kentucky, to Elzie
Bentley and Opal Adkins. She is survived by her sister Lillian, four children Eddie (Liza), Susie,
Johnny (Lynda) and Ronnie, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and three
great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
She was a devoted mother, cherished MamMaw, and a dear friend to many. She was known for
her gentle smile, open arms and unwavering generosity. If you had the pleasure of meeting her,
you know what I mean when I say she filled a spot in your heart and left a mark on your soul.
She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. She was no stranger to struggle, but her
strength and determination always pulled through. She was a hardworking, independent woman.
Retiring from Mercury Marine as boat engine assembler. She spent her retired years cooking,
baking and enjoying time with her family.
MamMaw started and carried on many traditions that will forever be honored and cherished.
Sweet tea to Sunday breakfast, Pumpkin rolls to no bake cookies. Not a soul could compare, for
everything she made she made with love. Everything she did, she did out of love. MamMaw's
house was home for so many. It was more than a place; it was a feeling of love, acceptance, and
comfort. She was always thinking of everyone else and making sure everyone was taken care of.
Even in her final moments she was fighting to make sure everyone was ok and was going to be
ok when she was gone.
